Volunteerism
If you are interested in volunteering your administrative or artistic
services to Working Playground, Inc. Working Playground has three
volunteer opportunities for charitable individuals to have a meaningful
experience with our students or assist in program implementation:
- Artist Panelists: In January and May, we conduct formal evaluations
of student art projects. As part of these evaluations, students
present their projects to a panel of professionals from arts-related
industries who volunteer their time to provide feedback to students.
This has proved to be particularly effective, both as a method of
encouraging students to recognize the value of their own artistic
work, and as a means of engaging members of the artistic community
in the experiences of our young emerging artists.
- Student Exhibitions and Productions: The Studio Program facilitates
student exhibitions and performances where audiences are invited
to experience student work. If you would like to help us build sets,
work with students on editing their videos, help students mat their
paintings, practice their lines, rehearse their choreography, we
can always use another set of creative hands!
- Classroom Support: Pair up with a teaching artist to assist in
a Working Playground classroom. Share your expertise with the whole
group or give extra support to individual students working on film,
visual art, drama, dance or design projects.
- Administrative Support: If you would like to volunteer your services
in our administrative offices to help with accounting services,
fundraising events, mailings, grant writing and grant research,
this valuable time is the machine that helps us to keep doing what
we do!
