A Place in due Time
Erika Sequeira

There is a place where wise choices exist,
Where my words imagine peace and love,
Where my American dream is a reality,
And I no longer have to wait in line.
It is not necessary to bear forceful arms.
A place where my future is not placed on hold.
A place where I can make my mother proud,
Be the first,
To walk down the aisle and,
And look into her eyes while I turn my tassel,
I'll turn my life.
A place where I can actually attend college without owing my earnings.
To be a success,
Grow up with my ethics and beliefs.
Make everyone open their eyes and see,
This is not a free world, this is not,
The land of the free,
This is not a democracy.
A place where I can inspire people to speak up, and out.
Against injustices, and misunderstanding.
Make every ones most difficult choice become
Picking between black, yellow, white, and life.
There is a place where I can live and
Die in peace.
Where my personal battles can be won.
I could live the life of a thousand warriors.
Where I can be in the front lines,
Not in this unnecessary war, but in a world
Filled with men who want to suppress women.
Men who chew us up, and spit us out,
As if we had no true purpose.
I want, No, I need, to fight
Battles and let my sisters blood flow through me,
To give me strength. To serve her needs.
My place is a world where unjust wars don't exist.
A president doesn't create a future for me,
Doesn't hold me back,
Doesn't force me to be the monster within me.
My name is in headlines,
I am every ones savior.
There is a place where wise choices exist,
Where my words imagine peace and love,
Where my American dream is a reality
Where my American dream is a reality
American dream is a reality
American, dream, reality
Dream, reality
