THE FUTURE I WILL WANDER THROUGH

My predecessors have made me the protégé
They were painters, they made me their canvas
And painted on me their ideas for the future
I am the water color painting of what is supposed to come

I have drenched my self in a tub of holy water, to allow
The next generation to paint their own picture
I hold the brushes and the paint
To a blank tomorrow and I plan to share the canvas.
I will lead angry painters to the yellow brick road
And watch as we paint over it in red allowing those who follow this future,
to march over
The blood of the past
I will walk along side the writers of the hereafter
As we write through genetic evolution and paint over the devastation

In my future
wars will not be fought with weapons of mass destruction
But defended with words  
And the term terrorist will be only be associated with those who don’t speak there mind
Because silence scares the masses
My future is to uncover the truth, like a tree I want to branch off
Ideas, and let the sap flow through the pen and allow maple syrup to drench
My poetic page

I will make the future accessible for all, I will inscribe the future
In nursery rhymes, so ‘Sam I am’ will conspicuously speak the future to young’ns
hide it in subway maps and allow the lost to always put themselves in the right direction
Play the future on ipods so no matter where anyone is they will always be in tuned
Hide it in condoms so that all those going to the future will carry
The right protection
I will engrave new age hieroglyphics on pavements so the blind will be able to decode it through their canes and feel it in there palms
Bake tomorrow into prison food so, so inmates will know there’s more then just metal bars

And if you don’t make it on time
Like Motel 6 I’ll leave a light on for you
Because this future will not leave anyone behind

The future where equality isn’t something talked but incorporated into everyday society
I will create a world of I cans
Where the maybes and the I thinks will learn never to doubt themselves

I am the future because I have a plan,
I am going to use the teachings of my predecessors to make a difference,
I have a mission
To voice my opinion,
And have the world listen.
